Chapter Index

The moment Yan Yuzhou heard Shen Ci’s voice, the taut string holding him together suddenly relaxed, and the panic in his heart dissipated slightly.

Even though they had argued just a few days ago, Shen Ci remained the closest person to him in this world.

What’s more, he was still, nominally, Shen Ci’s partner. They hadn’t divorced yet.

If he sought Shen Ci’s help, Shen Ci would come, wouldn’t he?

Forcing himself to calm down, Yan Yuzhou whispered the name of the bar to Shen Ci. Then, trembling, with a choked sob, he tentatively pleaded, “Mr. Shen, can you help me? Please…”

Shen Ci’s eyebrows twitched. He wasn’t sure what exactly Yan Yuzhou meant by “helping him.”

Was it to drive away the creep? Or… bite him?

On the other end of the phone, Yan Yuzhou’s fragile voice resurfaced, tinged with grievance and sadness, as if he had already decided Shen Ci wouldn’t help him.

    “Mr. Shen, I’m sorry for disturbing you. I forgot—we’re supposed to get divorced… I’m sorry, I… I crossed the line. I’m sorry…”

    Then, the call abruptly ended.

Shen Ci gritted his teeth, shot up from his office chair, snatched his phone, and quickly called his driver, Xiao Wang. His steps were swift as the wind, and his deep voice carried an almost imperceptible trace of panic for those who cared to listen closely.

Yan Yuzhou’s words echoed in his mind:

“I forgot—we’re supposed to get divorced.”

Heh, that’s right. They were supposed to get divorced.

    But not yet.

Whoever dared to touch his omega was courting death.

The metallic scent of blood filled Yan Yuzhou’s nose, overwhelming him and pressing down from all sides. He felt as if he might suffocate at any moment.

Right now, he didn’t even have the strength to lift his phone and make another call.

If it weren’t for the partition door, the lecherous brute outside would have already overpowered him without resistance.

And yet, inexplicably, the thought of being bitten by Shen Ci made him willing, even content. But the mere idea of the iron-scented man outside made him want to die.

“Beautiful little thing, feeling terrible, aren’t you? Were you just calling someone for help?” The perverted and terrifying laughter from the man outside reached Yan Yuzhou’s ears, sending shivers down his spine.

“Calling your lover, were you? Don’t act tough now. What’s the use of calling for help? By the time he gets here, you’ll have already succumbed to my pheromones and given in to me. Then, when he sees you all filthy and debased, do you think he’ll still want you?”

The voice outside was like a devil’s whisper, each word stabbing into Yan Yuzhou’s heart. Unconsciously, he bit his lip and shook his head. His phone had long since slipped from his hand, falling to the side and shutting off automatically from the impact.

The glands at the back of his neck throbbed violently in rejection, fiercely resisting the invasive pheromones with a stabbing pain so sharp it felt like his nerves were being pierced.

It wasn’t just his mind. Even his body was helping him resist.

It was telling him, reminding him, to stay awake and wait for Shen Ci.

    Would Shen Ci… really come?

The music in the bar suddenly stopped, and an announcement over the speakers instructed everyone to evacuate.

Xiao Mu was in the middle of dancing, feeling like he wasn’t done yet, but he had no choice. Reluctantly, he made his way back to their table, intending to grab Yan Yuzhou and leave together.

To his surprise, he saw Yan Yuzhou’s classmate Pan Feng and another male student sitting there.

“Classmate Pan, have you seen Zhou Zhou?” Xiao Mu glanced around and added, “He was just sitting here.”

Pan Feng nodded and confirmed, “He went to the restroom. But now that you mention it, why hasn’t he come back yet? Lei Zi too—why’s it taking so long for both of them?”

Xiao Mu’s eyelid twitched, and a bad feeling welled up inside him. Without saying another word, he rushed toward the restroom.

Not far ahead, he noticed a group of bar staff hurrying over. The leader, likely the manager, was followed by three security guards. They moved quickly to the restroom door. The manager turned the handle but found it locked. His expression instantly darkened.

Seeing this, Xiao Mu’s face also turned grim. Could Zhou Zhou be inside?

Pan Feng and the other male student caught up as well, looking down at their phones. Suddenly, Pan Feng gasped in shock. “Classmate Yan called me so many times?!”

Xiao Mu quickly leaned over to look, only to see a string of missed calls on Pan Feng’s phone, all from Yan Yuzhou.

The three of them immediately realized that something might have happened to Yan Yuzhou.

While the manager pounded on the door, the security guards brought over the bar’s spare key to unlock it.

The moment the door opened, an overwhelming stench of iron burst out, invading the noses of everyone nearby.

“Lei Zi?!” Pan Feng exclaimed, recognizing his friend’s pheromones. Why were they so strong?

Hearing this, Xiao Mu and Pan Feng instinctively tried to rush in, but the security guards blocked them entirely.

“Apologies, guests. Someone inside is having a heat episode. You can’t go in.”

“Heat?!” Xiao Mu asked anxiously. “Is Zhou Zhou inside?”

The security guard continued blocking him, shaking his head. “We don’t know yet. We were just told by our superiors to get the alpha inside out and evacuate the bar. No one is allowed to enter the restroom, especially not now.”

As they spoke, two security guards emerged, dragging out a cursing and struggling man. Despite being restrained, he continued resisting, spewing vile and obscene words.

“Acting all pure and chaste? Pfft. You’ve got a face that’s just asking for it. One look, and it’s obvious you’re nothing good. Letting me play with you is a compliment!”

Before he could finish his sentence, a loud, ruthless slap silenced him.

Pan Feng stood before him, eyes wide with fury, his gaze burning with an uncontainable fire. His hand trembled as he pointed at the man.

“Lei Zi, what did you do?”

The man, Lei Zi, sneered, finding Pan Feng’s naive anger amusing. “That omega inside—you’ve had your eye on him for a while, haven’t you? Bro, I was just helping you test him out, see if he’s worth it… Ah!”

Pan Feng, unable to bear it any longer, clenched his fist, ready to punch, but before he could, a gust of wind swept past him.

Before he even registered what had happened, Lei Zi let out a miserable scream and collapsed to the floor.

Pan Feng turned to look at the person who had struck him, feeling a chill run down his spine at the bloodthirsty coldness radiating from the man.

It was the same “Mr. Shen” who had carried Yan Yuzhou in his arms and rushed him to the campus clinic when he fainted by the roadside.

Shen Ci stood there, his fist still clenched tightly, looking down disdainfully at the man he had just punched. His thin lips parted, and his voice, laced with frost and menace, filled the space. His aura alone seemed to freeze the bar in an instant.

“Who gave you the guts to touch him?”

Even Lei Zi, despite his earlier arrogance, was overwhelmed by the oppressive force emanating from Shen Ci. He wanted to yell back but found himself unable to move, his body paralyzed. Trembling, his lips quivered, but he couldn’t form a single coherent sentence.

Shen Ci didn’t seem interested in hearing any explanations. Instead, his gaze turned sharply toward the restroom. Without looking back, he gave a curt order to the security guards behind him: “No one is allowed to come in.”

With that, he strode toward the restroom with impatient urgency. The door slammed shut behind him with a loud bang.

Pan Feng stood quietly outside, staring at the door. He felt an overwhelming sense of shock and awe, unable to process the scene he had just witnessed. After a long pause, he swallowed hard and turned to Xiao Mu, voicing the question that had been gnawing at him.

“What exactly is the relationship between Yan and Mr. Shen?”

Xiao Mu walked over to him and, in a low voice that only the two of them could hear, delivered an answer that left Pan Feng utterly stunned.

“Mr. Shen is Zhou Zhou’s lover.”
