MWMM Chapter 56: One Question, One Kiss
by justmistyA new week began, and Yan Yuzhou returned to campus. Having missed half a month of classes, he had fallen quite behind. Since he had no foundation in this subject, facing the teacher’s new content made him feel a little panicked.
“Classmate Yan.”
At some point, Pan Feng had appeared beside his seat and was now pointing at the empty seat next to him. “Can I sit here?”
Yan Yuzhou smiled at him, nodded, and politely shifted inward a little.
After Pan Feng sat down, he looked at Yan Yuzhou, who was buried in his practice exercises, and chuckled. “Classmate Yan, I’ve taken notes for this subject. If you need them, I can lend them to you.”
“Really?” Yan Yuzhou’s eyes lit up. Then, he squinted as he smiled, revealing two small tiger teeth. “That’s great! Math is way too hard for me.”
Pan Feng took out a notebook from his backpack, placed it in front of Yan Yuzhou, and smiled. “Of course. Take it. Whenever you finish, just return it to me. If there’s anything you don’t understand, you can ask me anytime.”
Yan Yuzhou put his hands together in a grateful gesture. Without any pretense of politeness, he directly accepted Pan Feng’s notes.
Pan Feng remained seated beside him without moving.
“Classmate Yan, Classmate Xiao told me,” he suddenly said in a low voice.
“Hm?” Yan Yuzhou looked up at him in confusion.
“Xiao Mu told me… that you are Mr. Shen’s lover,” Pan Feng said softly, his expression full of apology. “Before, I had a bad attitude toward Mr. Shen. I thought he might hurt you. I’m sorry, I misunderstood.”
“Oh, it’s fine!” Yan Yuzhou thought of that night in the bar and immediately felt a little embarrassed. He let out a sheepish laugh.
“And also,” Pan Feng’s gaze was filled with guilt, his voice hesitant, as if it was difficult for him to speak, “that friend of mine, Lei Zi… that night, what he did to you…”
Hearing Pan Feng mention this, Yan Yuzhou’s face changed slightly in surprise. In fact, he found the whole matter quite awkward.
“Also, I should have answered your call sooner. Ah… anyway, I’m really sorry, Classmate Yan.”
Pan Feng apologized once again, his face full of regret.
Hearing his apology, Yan Yuzhou waved his hands repeatedly. “No, no, you don’t need to apologize. This wasn’t your fault, and besides, I ended up being fine in the end, didn’t I? I don’t blame you, really. Besides, you’ve even saved me before, Pan Feng. You’re a really good person, truly.”
After saying that, he squinted his eyes and smiled again, his bright smile leaving an imprint on Pan Feng’s heart, stirring up small ripples within him.
A little bit of heartache—yet also a sense of regret.
Classmate Yan already had someone he loved. And that person was no ordinary figure.
The man who had attempted to mark Yan Yuzhou that night—Lei Zi—had been sent straight to prison. That alone was proof of just how formidable that man was.
Just as Yan Yuzhou was talking with Pan Feng, his new roommate, Wen Er, walked into the classroom.
Seeing him sitting there, Wen Er grinned and sprinted toward them.
“Student Yan! What a coincidence! Student Pan, what a coincidence.”
He greeted both of them before casually plopping down in the seat in front of Yan Yuzhou, turning around to chat with them as if they were already close friends.
Yan Yuzhou smiled and greeted him back before lowering his head to focus on his book again. Wen Er, however, didn’t seem to feel ignored in the slightest and continued chatting with Pan Feng, who was sitting beside Yan Yuzhou.
But Yan Yuzhou keenly noticed that from the moment Wen Er had sat in front of them, Pan Feng had barely spoken a word. Even his jawline was tightly clenched, his whole demeanor exuding wariness and displeasure.
Yan Yuzhou found it strange, but looking at the headache-inducing textbook in front of him, he decided that his top priority right now should be catching up on his studies.
“You don’t know how to solve this?” Pan Feng suddenly asked. He had clearly noticed that Yan Yuzhou had been frowning at the same question for a long time.
Yan Yuzhou nodded honestly, spreading his hands in frustration. “My foundation is too weak.”
“It’s okay. Tell me what you don’t understand, and I’ll explain it to you.”
Pan Feng picked up a pen and began solving the problem on a piece of scrap paper while explaining it step by step.
Yan Yuzhou didn’t think too much about it and leaned in, listening attentively.
Wen Er watched as the two of them leaned in close, their heads nearly touching as they seriously discussed the problem. A trace of unwillingness flashed through his eyes, but he said nothing and silently turned his head away.
After class, Yan Yuzhou stayed behind for another half an hour, asking Pan Feng to help him catch up on the lesson. By then, the classroom had mostly emptied out, with only a few students left behind for their duty shift. Later, even they left, and soon only the two of them remained.
Listening to Pan Feng’s explanations, Yan Yuzhou suddenly felt as if a light had been switched on in his mind—what had once been a tangled mess of confusion was now completely clear. Several concepts that had stumped him before suddenly clicked after just a few guiding words.
Feeling great, he left the classroom together with Pan Feng. When they reached the fork in the road where they had to part ways, Yan Yuzhou caught sight of a dazzling Rolls-Royce pulling up. His eyes lit up with excitement, and he happily dashed over, flung open the door, and hopped inside.
Before the door even fully closed, he instinctively leaned toward Shen Ci, seeking out that familiar, soothing pinewood scent in a soft, clingy manner.
Shen Ci allowed him to nestle in, indulging his affectionate gestures. Then, with a casual sweep of his long arm, he pulled the car door shut before lowering his head and pressing a deep, lingering French kiss onto Yan Yuzhou’s lips—a technique he had just practiced the night before.
“Mmm…” Yan Yuzhou was forced to tilt his head back, surrendering to the kiss. But deep inside, he felt nothing but sweetness. His eyes fluttered shut, his long lashes trembling slightly, like a butterfly’s wings.
The two lingered in silent intimacy in the backseat for a while.
Meanwhile, the driver, Xiao Wang, tactfully kept quiet, smoothly merging onto the main road before discreetly raising the partition.
…
By the time he stepped out of the car, Yan Yuzhou’s cheeks were flushed a deep red.
Looking at Shen Ci’s ever-composed expression, he felt a deep sense of injustice.
They had clearly been equally lost in the kiss, so why was he the only one left with weak knees?!
—
After dinner, Yan Yuzhou lay sprawled out on the bed, chewing on the end of his pen as he struggled through his university math textbook. His brows furrowed in frustration, utterly baffled by the problems in front of him.
Shen Ci walked over gently and patted Yan Yuzhou’s shoulder. “Studying so hard?”
Yan Yuzhou scrunched up his little face, looking utterly defeated as he complained about himself. “Pan Feng just explained this problem to me after school, but my dumb wooden head already forgot it so soon!”
At the mention of Pan Feng’s name, Shen Ci’s hand, which had been lightly patting Yan Yuzhou, suddenly paused. His expression stiffened slightly as well, and his eyes narrowed with a scrutinizing look. “Hm? Pan Feng explained it to you?”
Yan Yuzhou didn’t notice anything off and nodded openly. “Yeah! Classmate Pan is really good at math, and he’s super helpful too. Look, he even lent me his notes. See? The way he laid out the thought process is really clear, isn’t it?”
Hearing his own omega continuously praising another alpha in front of him, Shen Ci immediately became displeased. He silently withdrew his hand from Yan Yuzhou’s shoulder and, in an almost casual tone, remarked, “Back in the day, I graduated from Wenjing University with dual degrees in Finance and Mathematics.”
“Huh?” Yan Yuzhou perked up instantly, his little head snapping up. His eyes sparkled with a pleading light as he reached out and gently tugged on Shen Ci’s sleeve, giving it a small, coquettish shake. “Mr. Shen, can you teach me how to solve this problem…?”
“I could teach you.” Shen Ci remained composed, secretly enjoying the sight of this little one acting spoiled. Then, the corner of his lips curled up slightly as he calmly added, “But I have one condition.”
“W-what condition…?” Yan Yuzhou asked cautiously.
Shen Ci slowly leaned in, a certain emotion flashing through his gaze as he spoke in a leisurely tone—
“One question, one kiss.”
