Chapter Index

Shen Ci quickly noticed that his little cutie was troubled today.

Not only did he fail to eagerly start his math studies after dinner as usual, but he also barely ate a few bites.

Watching him sit there, holding his bowl and counting grains of rice, Shen Ci frowned deeply.

That night, Yan Yuzhou burrowed into the blankets early. In the darkness, while Shen Ci was still awake, he finally mustered the courage to speak in a sullen voice.

“Mr. Shen, starting tomorrow, can I take the bus to school by myself?”

With just that one sentence, the bedroom in the dark grew even quieter, the air turning stiff and heavy.

In an instant, Yan Yuzhou felt a sudden chill beside him, as if winter had descended. Then, Shen Ci’s voice, devoid of warmth, rang in his ears.

    “Give me a reason.”

Yan Yuzhou swallowed, then recited the response he had carefully prepared in his head. “Because I want to leave home earlier and go for a run at the school track. The weather is getting colder, so I thought it’s time to start working out to build up my immunity.”

“There’s a treadmill in the home gym, and the path around the villa is 400 meters—just as long as your school track. Running with me every morning is no different.” Shen Ci rejected Yan Yuzhou’s suggestion without hesitation.

“But the school track is livelier. Many university students who live on campus have a habit of morning runs. If I run with them, I definitely won’t quit halfway and can last longer.” Yan Yuzhou quickly responded, trying to convince Shen Ci.

However, the moment his words fell, he suddenly sensed a shadow looming over him under the faint moonlight, stealing his breath away.

    Shen Ci kissed him.

The instant their lips met, Shen Ci also pinned his hands down with undeniable strength.

If he didn’t seal this little mouth that kept chattering, sooner or later, the words coming out of it would drive him to death.

After what felt like forever, the two finally separated, though by the end, Yan Yuzhou nearly found himself swept away by the kiss.

Yet, as Shen Ci gazed at those bright, clear eyes in the darkness, he spoke bluntly, “I’m not a fool. Everything you need is at home—there’s no reason for you to go out of your way. Besides, don’t forget, you hate taking the bus. And one more thing—since the moment you got into the car after school today, you’ve been preoccupied. So give me a reason that can actually convince me—or, the real reason you’re refusing to say.”

Then, he reached out and twisted the bedside lamp switch.

A warm, dim light filled the room instantly.

The light wasn’t harsh, but what Yan Yuzhou truly didn’t dare to meet was Shen Ci’s deep, burning gaze—piercing as if it could see straight through him, laying bare all his secrets, leaving him with nowhere to hide.

Shen Ci loomed over him, gripping his shoulders. The warmth of his palms seeped into Yan Yuzhou’s skin, both soothing and tormenting him.

It was as if, unless he spoke the truth, Shen Ci would consume him whole, leaving not even his bones behind.

Yan Yuzhou swallowed nervously, shifting slightly. But there was no sign that Shen Ci intended to let him go.

With a pout, feeling slightly wronged, Yan Yuzhou decided to just go all in.

He blurted out everything about the post on the school forum from earlier that day.

“That’s what happened. Mr. Shen, I just don’t want my classmates gossiping about me.”

After giving a brief summary of the situation and showing Shen Ci the post that Xiao Mu had sent him, Yan Yuzhou shrugged. Though his expression remained neutral, Shen Ci could still hear the grievance and sadness in his tone.

A fire instantly ignited in Shen Ci’s heart.

Who the hell had a death wish, daring to slander his Zhouzhou? Calling his omega a rent boy? Whoever it was clearly didn’t want to stay at Wenjing Art University any longer.

“Mr. Shen,” Yan Yuzhou glanced at Shen Ci’s icy expression and suddenly felt a bit regretful.

He quietly tugged at the corner of Shen Ci’s sleeve, his clear, innocent eyes looking up at him. “Actually, I thought about it. It’s just gossip—it doesn’t really matter. As long as I know who I am, I don’t need to be afraid of rumors. Their mouths are theirs—I can’t control what they say. So I won’t take the bus after all, Mr. Shen. Tomorrow morning, let’s ride together like usual.”

As he spoke, he even flashed a small, appeasing smile, tilting his head up slightly to place a soft peck on the corner of Shen Ci’s lips.

Seeing Yan Yuzhou trying so hard to placate him, offering his own form of compromise just to keep him from getting angry, Shen Ci’s heart melted in an instant.

Something inside him seemed to shatter, filling his chest with a bittersweet warmth—tender and overwhelming.

Letting out a low chuckle, he pressed a gentle kiss to Yan Yuzhou’s forehead before releasing his grip on his hands. Stroking his hair with affectionate care, his voice was filled with nothing but warmth.

“Baby, leave this to me. Don’t let it weigh on your mind, alright?”

With that kind of deep, unwavering tenderness, it was impossible not to believe him.

The weight in his heart finally lifted, and the dark clouds lingering over Yan Yuzhou’s mood vanished completely. Even his eyes, which had been filled with unease, now shimmered with a newfound brightness.

With his worries gone, exhaustion quickly settled in.

Shen Ci turned off the light and instinctively pulled him into his arms. Within minutes, the soft, steady rhythm of Yan Yuzhou’s breathing filled the quiet room.

Shen Ci smiled slightly, carefully setting the person in his arms down before quietly sitting up. Lifting the blanket, he slipped out of bed and walked silently to the study.

The next morning, as usual, Yan Yuzhou arrived at Wenjing Art University in that blindingly flashy Rolls-Royce.

After bidding farewell to Shen Ci, he stepped out of the car.

Feeling the subtle, lingering gazes of passing students—curious, speculative—Yan Yuzhou did his best to ignore them, trying to brush away the small thorn in his heart.

Sometimes, rumors were like tiny thorns. Even if they weren’t true, they could still leave an uncomfortable wound.

Once he entered the classroom, Yan Yuzhou didn’t spare a glance at anyone. He simply found an empty seat and sat down, minding his own business.

Just like any other day, he attended class, took notes, and followed the routine.

During the break, just as he was about to review his studies, several classmates—some familiar, some less so—suddenly crowded around him.

    The unexpected approach startled him.

“Zhouzhou! So you’re actually the mysterious little sweetheart in President Shen’s house? You hid it so well~”

“Zhouzhou, President Shen pampers you so much, I’m so jealous~”

“Zhouzhou, you’re good-looking and kind to everyone. I really, really like you…”

One sentence after another left Yan Yuzhou’s lips twitching.

He forced a polite, perfunctory smile, casually responding with a few vague replies before burying his head back into his books.

But his thoughts had already started to spiral.

Had Shen Ci done something? But he had only told him about this last night—there was no way he could’ve resolved it so quickly, right?

With doubt creeping in, Yan Yuzhou reopened the forum app on his phone.

He tapped into the Wenjing Art University forum, preparing to check on the post that had been trending on the homepage yesterday—the one with the flaming hot icon that accused him of being a kept lover.

However, the page was completely empty.

No matter how much he scrolled down, there wasn’t a single trace of the original post.

It had vanished without a hint.

Instead, taking the number one spot among the trending threads was a newly published post.

    The bold, eye-catching title read:

【I Married My Wife Fair and Square—Pampering Him to Death, So What?】
