The familiar warmth and domineering tone made Yan Yuzhou’s vision blur as tears began to Prada Prada and Dior down his face.

The resolve to die that had filled his heart just moments before vanished the instant the man appeared before him. His chest surged with a wild mix of joy and fear, the euphoria of regaining what was once lost nearly overwhelming. He suddenly began to struggle with all his might—hands and feet flailing—his tiny fists pounding like raindrops against the hard chest of the man who held him tightly.

“You bastard! Why couldn’t you drive properly?! I thought you were dead! That you’d never come back! I even… I even thought maybe I should just die with you!” Yan Yuzhou’s voice trembled with rage and pain. The scene from the novel—where Shen Ci drove into the river with a bloodthirsty smile at the corner of his lips—flashed in his mind, stabbing at his heart like a needle, the ache unbearable.

The man before him let him vent without resistance, his expression softening slightly. His voice, low and hoarse, carried a gentle coaxing tone. “Baby, I just got here and you’re already telling me to leave? But I don’t even know where else to go. Baby, I’m your man. You’ve got to take me in.”

By now, quite a few people nearby had started to notice them. Yan Yuzhou could feel the curious gazes of passing tourists. He restrained his movements a little, but the anger on his face remained. “Shen Ci, how dare you risk your life like that!”

Shen Ci’s face froze for a moment. Then, he tightened his embrace as if he wanted to pull Yan Yuzhou completely into his own body. He took a deep breath and whispered, “Baby, if you were dead, what reason would I have to keep living?”

Yan Yuzhou suddenly realized—Shen Ci’s arms around him were trembling.

His throat closed up. Shen Ci was like this… but wasn’t he the same? Just moments ago, hadn’t he been fully prepared to die? Realizing this made his heart melt. He wrapped his arms tightly around Shen Ci’s waist and leaned in even closer.

“How did you find me here?” he asked softly.

Shen Ci replied, “Because, for a moment… I thought I saw you.”

“You saw me?” Yan Yuzhou asked, puzzled.

Shen Ci nodded. “I saw you in a flower shop, tending to a bouquet of roses. One of the thorns pricked your finger and you started bleeding. In that instant, it felt like I was being summoned—like some force was guiding me. That if I left that world, I’d be able to see you again.”

“So, you decided to drive straight into the river?” Yan Yuzhou was still a little angry. More than that, his heart ached with worry and lingering fear over Shen Ci’s reckless choice to seek death.

Shen Ci gave a faint smile. “There was another reason… I’d reached my susceptibility period. At that moment, I missed you so much I just thought—might as well take the gamble.”

As he finished speaking, Shen Ci kissed him lightly on the forehead. “And it turns out, I bet right.”

Two grown men hugging each other in public soon attracted quite a few curious and judgmental stares. Yan Yuzhou’s cheeks flushed slightly. He gave the man holding him a light push. “Shen Ci, let go of me. People are watching.”

Just as he tried to pull away, a forceful tug yanked him right back into Shen Ci’s arms. Shen Ci’s voice murmured beside his ear, full of possessive jealousy. “What, I’m hugging my own omega—who’s got a problem with that?”

Yan Yuzhou felt his face burning up. He whispered to Shen Ci, “There’s no alpha or omega here… Everyone’s just a man. This isn’t really appropriate…”

“Oh.” Shen Ci had just noticed that too—everyone around had smooth skin at the nape of their necks, no glands. Though reluctant, he still let go of the person in his arms as requested. Yet his expression remained cocky, and he gave a deliberately fierce look. “Even if there’s no alpha or omega, you’re still mine. You belong to Shen Ci.”

Tears still clinging to his lashes, Yan Yuzhou couldn’t help but chuckle. Looking at Shen Ci’s over-the-top possessiveness, the emptiness that had weighed on his heart for days was suddenly filled. Seeing Shen Ci’s annoyed expression, he felt a secret joy rise within him. He responded with a soft “Mm,” leaned in close, and whispered in his ear, “Let’s talk about it once we’re home.”

That one suggestive, teasing line instantly softened Shen Ci’s expression. His gaze turned expectant, full of playful hunger, as he followed the blush creeping across Yan Yuzhou’s face. His heart itched with desire.

Suddenly, Lin Xiaoguo’s voice rang out. “Xiaohua, this is…”

It was obvious enough from their interaction that Lin Xiaoguo had already guessed the identity of this top-tier man, but she still asked out loud for confirmation. Watching Shen Ci’s aloof, cold expression when facing outsiders—so starkly different from the domineering, possessive way he treated Yan Yuzhou—her gossipy little heart couldn’t help but start shipping the two of them hard.

“Xiaoguo, this is Shen Ci,” Yan Yuzhou introduced softly to his best friend, then turned to the man beside him, whose gaze was warm and tender. “Shen Ci, this is my best friend, Lin Xiaoguo.”

Shen Ci gave Lin Xiaoguo a faint nod—just enough to count as a greeting—then promptly shifted all his attention back to his little rose at his side.

Lin Xiaoguo was practically buzzing with excitement. Never in her life had she imagined she’d one day see the protagonist of her favorite novel standing right in front of her, alive and breathing. She discreetly gave Shen Ci a once-over—tall, ascetic, sharp-eyed, and overflowing with charisma—just as she’d always pictured.

Unable to contain herself, she shyly and gleefully tugged on Yan Yuzhou’s arm, and the two exchanged a knowing look full of silent communication.

Lin Xiaoguo (starry-eyed with excitement): Damn, Xiaohua, your husband is hot as hell…

Yan Yuzhou (smirking proudly): Yes, my man is the hottest on earth… eh?

Just as they were silently exchanging glances, Yan Yuzhou was suddenly and forcefully turned to face Shen Ci. Confused, he looked up—only to find Shen Ci glaring at Lin Xiaoguo’s hand still clutching his arm, his face a storm of possessiveness and silent warning.

Yan Yuzhou was secretly laughing inside but kept an innocent expression, allowing Lin Xiaoguo to hold on without reacting.

“Shen Ci, what’s wrong?” he asked, his tone all mock-serious innocence.

Shen Ci gave Lin Xiaoguo a cold side-eye and spat out a few frosty words: “Men and women shouldn’t touch.”

The moment he spoke, Lin Xiaoguo jerked her hand away like she’d been burned.

Then Shen Ci leaned in close to Yan Yuzhou’s ear and, in a voice loud enough for a third person to hear, muttered darkly, “Just wait till we get home and see how I deal with you.”

Yan Yuzhou couldn’t hold back anymore and let out a soft laugh, then offered Lin Xiaoguo an apologetic smile. “We’re heading home now.”

Lin Xiaoguo gave him a loaded look—a silent message that Yan Yuzhou understood instantly. It basically said, Your chrysanthemum is in danger, pray for yourself. And if he looked closely… wasn’t there a hint of sympathy, mixed with expectation, and maybe even… schadenfreude?

The corner of Yan Yuzhou’s mouth twitched slightly, but he let Shen Ci pull him away in his usual domineering fashion. They had already walked quite a distance from the beach when Yan Yuzhou finally couldn’t hold back a chuckle and asked, “Hubby, do you even know where our home is?”

Shen Ci halted, gave a low, awkward grunt. “Wherever you go, I go. This time, I’m not letting you out of my sight.”

Yan Yuzhou flipped his hand to clasp Shen Ci’s palm in return. “Let’s go then, hubby. Time to take you home.”

That night, Shen Ci curiously flipped his delicate little wife over, tugged down the collar of his pajamas, and stared for a long time at the back of his neck. It was smooth, flawless. He even ran his tongue over it, testing with a couple of slow licks.

“What are you doing?” Yan Yuzhou tried to wriggle away.

Shen Ci gently held him down and asked cautiously, “Baby, if I bit you here… would it hurt?”

Yan Yuzhou gritted his teeth in fury. “Are you seriously asking that? Do you see anyone around here who still has that thing on the back of their neck?”

Shen Ci looked troubled. “If I can’t give you a temporary mark, what about a full one? Otherwise… baby, how are you going to give me a child?”

Yan Yuzhou was speechless. He took on the righteous air of a native host asserting dominance. “Your damn uncle! Who said I was going to give you a kid? I’m a man, okay? I don’t give birth! Got it?”

Shen Ci looked thoughtful for a moment, then nodded as if he understood—though not fully—and hugged Yan Yuzhou with great delight. “Got it. Not giving birth is good too. No pregnancy means we can keep doing it nonstop.”

Yan Yuzhou: …Sir, where did your cold and aloof image go?
