TEB Ch 104
by STARAnd immediately, the sound of people screaming followed.
<Run, run away!>
<Eek! What’s wrong? Why all of a sudden!?>
Everyone was running out of the castle in panic, and then the castle shook with a loud thud! And soon, a massive heat wave and gust of wind followed. Another loud thud! And the sound of trees breaking apart. Is it Renard? Liev quickly stuck his head out of the window.
“Ah!”
The small building connected to the tower-like structure where Renard seemed to have been hiding was collapsing. The only one capable of such destruction was Renard. Liev urgently climbed the stairs and looked out of a window in a different direction, where he saw a dragon that looked like Renard rolling around In the forest densely planted with trees.
“Renard!”
Damn it. What the hell did they do?
Even from a distance, Renard’s condition didn’t seem to be normal. If he was still in control of himself, he would be searching for him in this situation. Moreover, after an incident in the past, Renard put a spell on him to prevent his flames from harming him. So, the easiest solution for Renard in this situation would be to just burn down everything in his entire area. That way, Liev would be the only one left while everything else turned into ashes.
Still, the reason for not being able to do so is probably because the surroundings are all forests, and Liev feels sorry for the ecosystem. It is not because he cannot come up with a way or for any other reason. Liev anxiously tried to calm himself down and pushed through the fallen rubble down the side passage.
“Renard!”
When Liev called out Renard’s name once again, from far away, the sound of Renard’s heavy body wreaking havoc could be heard. In any case, it meant he was responding to Liev’s voice, no matter how far away he was. This meant that even in his current state of chaos, Liev is still treated differently from other humans. Whether it was conscious or unconsciously.
Liev took a deep breath and shouted again.
“I’m coming! So don’t be too scared!”
If other people heard it, they might ask what kind of nonsense he was talking about, but Liev knew. Renard may be a strong and courageous dragon, but only when there is no reason to be afraid.
But when there is a reason, just like any other person, he hates and fears pain. Since dragons are essentially invincible, they may have forgotten about pain for a while, but for some reason, Renard seemed to be in a lot of pain.
“….!!”
Liev could tell just by hearing the loud, unintelligible scream. Liev hurriedly moved towards where the light was coming in. As the building collapsed, fragments were flying everywhere, and Liev’s arms and legs kept hitting solid stone pieces here and there, but he paid no attention to it.
“It’s okay! Just wait a little longer!”
Every time Liev stopped to catch his breath and called out, there was a huge vibration. How much longer did he wander like that? Perhaps he was near the exit window where Liev had broken through and run out, because a dead end appeared in front of him.
“Ha…”
Liev bent down. “Now what should I do? I have to get out of here. The situation was impossible with just Liev’s strength.”
“I might make it collapse if I touch it wrong.”
Liev carefully stood at the edge of the debris and tried to touch the largest pillar, but he couldn’t even move under the weight pressing down from above, and he was crushed by the weight pressing down from above and couldn’t move. He tried a few more times before sighing and shaking his head.
“Maybe it’s better to encourage Renard to come over here. Liev took a deep breath and shouted,
“Where are you? I’m here!”
You said you would come to rescue me, no matter where I was. Liev shouted with a bit of resentment, but all he could hear in response was Renard rolling around in pain, which didn’t seem to get any closer. I don’t know what’s going on, but this doesn’t look good. Liev looked back at the path he had taken. The building was so large that he didn’t even know if there was another entrance if he searched further. For now, he had no choice but to go back and look again. Just as Liev was about to turn around and give up on this dead-end path.
Ugh….
He could faintly hear someone groaning in the darkness.
“Who’s there?”
As Liev reflexively shouted in Airen, the faint voice became slightly clearer.
“Hel…Help me….”
Liev stopped walking in an instant. The voice sounded like someone was injured. As Liev stood still and didn’t make any noise, the voice came again, sounding like a sob.
“Save me, help me.”
At that moment, a chill ran through his whole body. It seemed like there were still soldiers who were swept away when the building collapsed and weren’t able to escape. Liev was about to run away in the opposite direction, pretending he didn’t hear anything, but then he stopped and turned back.
“Huh, I don’t want to die in a place like this… Please save me… I’ll tell you how to get out …!”
Liev’s ears perked up at the sentence that seemed to dig into his ears. How long had he been left in this place? The voice sounded like it was on the verge of death. If Liev turned away and left, he would surely become exhausted and faint in no time. Moreover, this person was an enemy, one of the people who had kidnapped Liev and Renard and brought them here. If he had met Renard, he might have just burned this person to death.
Even if this person did reveal the way out, it would be hard to believe it. Liev couldn’t help but feel suspicious that it might be a lie or a trap. He wasn’t sure if he should trust them. After all, who would believe that someone would help him in this situation?
Liev thought it was best to just ignore the person. He couldn’t help anyone in his current state. His nose was stuffy, and he could barely walk. He couldn’t understand why he was suffering like this.
“……”
How long did he walk like that? He couldn’t shake the impression that he was still going round and round in the same place. He didn’t know which direction the exit was or the entrance was. His patience was reaching its limit.
“Renard!”
He called out Renard’s name again, but he could barely hear his response. He was worried that something might have happened to him. He had tried to escape on his own, but he ended up in this helpless state. He felt pathetic and just wanted to sit down. He couldn’t see any way out of this situation and was afraid that he might end up dying here. Just when his mind was going blank and his hands were getting cold, he heard a faint voice again.
“Pl-please… save me…”
“…..”
Liev turned in the direction of the sound. Sighing, he realized that there was no immediate way out. He stood still for a moment, hesitating, before shaking his head and turning in the direction of the sound again. He hadn’t walked far when he saw a figure lying between the bookshelves, probably in what used to be a study.
Liev let out a sigh, wondering if this was some kind of foolish act. But he approached the figure to get a closer look and felt a little relieved. The man was wearing a worn-out uniform, looking much more ordinary than the soldier he had encountered earlier. It was clear that he had suffered some severe injuries.
“I can’t believe I’m doing this now,” Liev thought to himself.
He didn’t want to watch as someone struggled and died in front of him, whether the promise of showing him the way out was true or not. Even if it was a foolish decision, he couldn’t help himself.
If Renard were in this situation, Would he just leave the person behind because they were the enemy soldier? Liev couldn’t imagine that. Renard may have complained and grumbled, but he never taught Renard to abandon someone in need. He hoped that Renard would continue to do good deeds, help people, and maybe even take down some bad guys when necessary. But he couldn’t imagine Renard leaving a wounded person behind in a situation like this.
Liev let out a sigh and began to throw books from the shelves to the floor.
